The
Court of Arbitration for Sport (Lausanne) has issued a statement
according to which the final decision in the Alejandro Valverde hearing
will not be given until sometime in March. In the mean time his legal
team is seeking to overturn the Italian Olympic Committee‘s decision to
ban him for two years.
CAS‘s statement yesterday, though, led to confusion and gave no
indications as to what the outcome will be. There is, however, the sense
that there will be efforts to increase the penalty if he fails to reduce
Italian ban. For the moment, The Spaniard will participate in the
Australian Tour Down Under and he is also set to face another CAS appeal
in March.
