Theo Eltink announced his
retirement from his professional career yesterday. As the Dutchman
stated in his personal web page, he failed to sign for a team for the
new year and as a result he is not going to be able to race as a
professional.
He also declared that he has nothing to regret in his career as
he has always given his best.
His first professional race took place in 2005 when he joined
Rabobank team. After that, four quite successful seasons followed in
Rabobank and in 2008 he moved to Dutch team Skil-Shimano.
His great achievement as a professional is his success in completing
six Grand Tours , including Giro d’ Italia and Vuelta (Spain). His best
performance ever, took place in Vuelta 2006 where he finished 24th overall.
