A historical and symbolic race took place in Athens last Sunday,
November 6th.
The Classical Marathon has survived through thousands of years and
is still organized in Greece for 23rd time this year. Many other
countries though, organize their own Marathon every year.
The race started in the city of Marathona were 3000 of athletes
began the long route heading to the centre of Athens, in Kalimarmaro
Stadium.
The athletes of Kenya were once again the big winners of the race,
not surprising anyone as they have established a tradition of winning in
the particular race. James Saina with time 2.16.04, arrived first in the
Stadium where many people were waiting to see the outcome of the race.
Greek athletes impressed everyone with their good performance.
Yerasimos kokotas was first among the rest Greek athletes to finish the
race and seventh in the general classification, with time 2.24.51.
